MFH in Emden is rebuilding the successful Von-Ahlen design, which was originally launched by SQ Yachts from Freienohl and then unfortunately disappeared along with the company

Open stern, attached twin rudders, chines, chamfers and edges in the deck and superstructure, fathead mainsail and a retractable gennaker pole: the Tide 25 trailer boat is still at the cutting edge in terms of design and also looks great. The design by Marc-Oliver von Ahlen was built by SQ Yachts in Freienohl in 2014. Former Dehler employees ventured a new start there after the shipyard was transferred to Greifswald as part of the takeover by Hanseyachts. The trailer boat was a success and generated a lot of interest, but when it came to the YACHT test the mast broke.

It can happen from time to time, but it didn't help sales, although a stronger profile was subsequently put on deck. In any case, SQ was unable to establish itself and the manufacturer went bankrupt in the same year.

New start under the direction of MFH in Emden

Design engineer von Ahlen recently passed the moulds on to one of his clients, Maritime Faserverbundtechnik Haring, a manufacturer of components for vehicle construction, including submarine parts. He has just completed the highly exciting Performance retro classic Tide 36 and intends to return to yacht building with a broader programme.

The trailer boat was now available for a YACHT test. The SQ 25 demonstrated very good speeds, small turning angles and, above all, high stability. Although the narrow boat initially lays on its side in gusts, it then generates a high righting moment and, above all, remains under full control. The helmsman sits securely on the coaming, even with more leeway, and his feet find support in the moulded edges of the low-slung aft cockpit lid.

Large selection for keels and sail surfaces

The deck layout is designed for high efficiency with a small crew. The jib tracks sit on the coachroof, the halyard winches double as sheet winches. The traveller sits aft, the mainsheet foot block in front of the tiller. Below deck, the Tide is designed as a one-room flat: open, airy and bright. However, there is little storage space.

The trailer boat can be modularly customised to the owner's wishes: There is a choice of three different keels, high or flat aft cockpits, diesel or electric propulsion and a wide range of sail areas. This turns the Tide 25 into a cruising boat or a hot performance cruiser.
