The typical DNA of the models from the modern SE series (Saffier Elegance) is also retained in the smallest boat. The sporty hull lines, the large cockpit with sun lounge on the aft deck, a short and flat cabin superstructure, a long and firmly attached bowsprit and a high and efficient rig with plenty of sail area all stand for this.
The now smallest boat from the daysailer experts in Holland now also has a negative bow stem, which is particularly visually advantageous, but should also favour the sailing characteristics in the waves. And: in contrast to its larger sisters, the Se 27 Leisure (YACHT 10/2020 test) and Se 33 Life (YACHT 24/2021 test), the small Se 24 Lite no longer has a fixed windscreen and is now only built with tiller steering. The L-shaped keel with ballast bomb is available in three possible draught variants: 1.30 m (standard), 1.00 m (short keel) and a performance version with a draught of 1.44 metres.
Buyers have the choice of sailing the boat with a self-tacking jib or with a short overlapping (110 per cent) genoa. The standard rig is made of aluminium and comes from Seldén. A carbon fibre mast is available as an option, with textile shrouds made from PBO. There is no backstay, but a mainsail with squarehead can be fitted. A long traveller and a strong boom vang ensure good trimmability.
The mast of the small Saffier now stands on deck on a folding mast base. This means that the rig can be set and lowered by hand in no time at all. Launching and lowering is made easier with a hot eye and a strop. With a width of just 2.40 metres and a total weight of 1.2 tonnes, the small Saffier can be easily transported by road without any major inconvenience.
And why the green colour? The boat is equipped with an electric motor from Torqeedo with pod drive and folding propeller. A combustion engine is also not planned as an option. The lithium batteries for the drive are permanently recharged via the large solar panels permanently integrated in the foredeck. This means that the small boat is largely self-sufficient in terms of energy, even when it is attached to the buoy or standing on the trailer on land.
Up to four people can sleep comfortably below deck, thanks to the simple, unpretentious interior design. The interior also provides storage space for sails and equipment. A battery-powered refrigerator or a chemical toilet can be installed in the boat as an option.
For the world premiere of the Saffier Se 24 Lite in Düsseldorf, the Dutch company is quoting a base price ex shipyard of 79,900 euros net. Including 19% VAT, the base price is 83,180 euros. However, the sails are not yet included in the price.
