Almost a year after the keel was laid, Vitters turned the 68-metre hull of Project 3095. The Dutch are now building and fitting out the 113-tonne Alukasko down the keel in the new hall in Zwartsluis until summer 2026 according to Andre Hoek's specifications.

Project 3095, which measures 68 metres from the spoon bow to the yacht stern, will keep Vitters busy for three years. The contract for the ketch with lines by Andre Hoek was signed in September 2023. A good six months later, the Dutch laid the keel for the aluminium hull in the new 80 by 30 metre hall in Zwartsluis. The hot work was carried out by welders from Vitters. In May 2025, the 113-tonne hull rolled outside on a mobile self-propelled transporter to be turned on the quay by four mobile cranes. During the roughly one-year outfitting phase, three timber-clad deckhouses will be erected on deck and various trades will come together below. Subcontractors carry out the interior work, painters start work, followed by suppliers of the electrical systems.

Eighth project by Hoek and Vitters

The 68-metre ketch is a further development of the "Adele" (54.6 | 2005), "Marie" (2010 | 53.3 m), "Anne" (2009 | 54.4 m) and the 50-metre ketch "Meraki" (2020). All were designed by Hoek Design and built by Vitters and are characterised by long overhangs, classic deckhouse architecture and strong sailing performance. Hoek Design Naval Architects is responsible for the construction and the exterior and interior design, while US designer Bunny Williams is in charge of decorating the interiors.

Owner's and guest accommodation is spread across the stern, while a large, central owner's cockpit forms the centre of the deck. The owner's representative is Van Ineveld & Co, which, together with Hoek and Vitters have already worked together on the J-Class "Svea". Vitters salesman Bas Peute said: "This is the eighth project we have worked on with the Hoek Design team and it is great to be working with the owner's representatives from Van Ineveld & Co who are familiar with both Andre's team and the Vitters build team."

Panama Canal-compatible rig and cinema

Rather unusual for a sailing yacht of this size are a large cinema room with two rows in front of the saloon and two tender bays in the foredeck, under which the crew quarters are located. According to Andre Hoek, this is an order for a very experienced regular customer who wants a yacht with a larger number of guest cabins and which can pass through the Panama Canal. "The ketch rig offers the so-called Panamax mast height, which enables the yacht to pass the Bridge of the Americas at the southern end of the waterway," says Andre Hoek. Specifically, the mast must not protrude more than 62.50 metres above the canal water if a diversion of 8,000 miles is not desired.

Fixed keel and hybrid drive

Andre Hoek and his team optimised the hull and appendages of Project 3095 using CFD and specially developed speed prediction programs (VPP). The fixed keel is fitted with a trim tab on the fin to reduce drift and improve balance with the ketch rig. The single rudder with mechanical steering is designed to harmonise fatigue-free steering with high feedback.

Southern Spars will supply the rigging package and North Sails will provide the extensive sail wardrobe. An electric motor will charge the battery bank and provide propulsion when leaving a harbour or anchorage. All systems could run via the battery bank and also help the ketch to operate whisper-quietly over a longer period of time.

Another major order for Vitters

Vitters accepted the order for the 63 metre long Dreamer project shortly before Project 3095 was shot. Malcolm McKeon is developing the modern sloop with an interior volume of just under 500 gross tonnes and a 90 square metre flybridge. Hot work will begin at the end of August, with delivery scheduled for December 2028.

The 63-metre Dreamer project is scheduled to leave port at the end of 2028.The 63-metre Dreamer project is scheduled to leave port at the end of 2028.
