Cheers! This table used to be a part of the fuselage, more precisely the prow of "Geronimo".

From bow to side table. The Brutalux studio transforms parts of old sailing yachts into pieces of furniture and sells them. To do this, carpenter Oliver Texier sands and welds in his studio in Guidel, Brittany. Here, the 65-year-old gives us a brief insight.

Where do you put your coffee or beer at home?

I have the bow of the famous trimaran "Geronimo" in my living room, around which I sit with my friends and drink beer. The table is also for sale.

You build furniture from parts of sailing boats. How did you come to do this?

I like the principle of recycling, giving obsolete objects a new function. And I simply love working with different materials, with wood, metal and composites.

The yacht parts come from shipyards, don't they?

Yes, but also from other sources...

What do you do with it for Brutalux, apart from coffee tables?

It depends on what I see in the space I have at the moment. I make furniture, tables and some lights.

What do you need for your work?

I use various tools for wood, a welding machine and grinders to work on metal and also composite materials.

Where can I buy Brutalux furniture?

I used to offer them in warehouse sales, especially through 727 Sailbags - a company that makes bags from recycled canvas. But now I mainly sell through my social media accounts, Instagram and Facebook.
