The highly successful maxi yacht is looking for a new owner. Luca Bassani designed the 28-metre sloop for regatta victories. Judel/Vrolijk & co. optimised its shape and layout. Now the brokerage firm Y.CO has reduced the price of the “Bullitt” by two million. An exciting offer for racing enthusiasts.

There are yachts that sail leisurely around the world, and there are boats that are bought to win. The Wally 93 “Bullitt” clearly falls into the second category – and its asking price has recently been slashed. The 28.3-metre performance cruiser now costs ‘just’ €8.5 million. A hefty sum, but it’s an offer that is likely to cause a stir in the maxi racing scene.

A seasoned design team created “Bullitt”

In 2018 by Wally Built to this specification, the “Bullitt” is not only a real eye-catcher, but also a carbon-fibre yacht designed specifically for regatta racing. The design is by Wally founder Luca Bassani, whilst the hull lines and layout were developed by the Bremen-based design office judel/vrolijk & co. – a name that speaks for itself in the world of regattas.

“Bullitt” – an impressive collection of trophies

“Bullitt’s” list of victories reads like a who’s who of the international Maxi regatta calendar: the RORC Nelson Cup, the North Sound Maxi Regatta BVI and the prestigious Rolex Maxi World Championship – to name just the most recent podium finishes. Anyone setting sail on “Bullitt” – provided they have the right regatta crew on board – has a good chance of securing top placings.

Fresh from the refit

What makes this current listing particularly appealing is a recently completed refit, in which the owner invested just under €5 million. The work carried out includes:

  1. A new Fixed keel for optimised stability and upwind performance
  2. An extended Bowsprit for improved downwind performance
  3. New, high-performance Deck winches
  4. A comprehensive, new set of sails from Doyle Sails (costing €2 million)
  5. A number of technical upgrades to further optimise performance

Minimalist and modern

Although the “Bullitt” was primarily designed as a racing yacht, it offers its guests more than just a cabin at sea. The The interior is contemporary and minimalist. The monochromatic colour scheme complements the black exterior finish and creates a harmonious, distinctive atmosphere below deck. On board, there is accommodation for six guests in three en-suite cabins – one master cabin and two twin cabins. There is also a crew cabin with its own bathroom for two people.

Martin Hager

Editor in Chief YACHT

Martin Hager is editor-in-chief of the titles YACHT and BOOTE EXCLUSIV and has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag for 20 years. He was born in Heidelberg in 1978 and started sailing at the age of six, in an Opti of course. This was soon followed by 420s, Sprinta Sport and 470s, which he also sailed on the regatta course with his brother. His parents regularly took him on charter trips through the Greek and Balearic Islands. Even at a young age, it was clear to him that he wanted to turn his passion for water sports into a career. After graduating from high school and completing an internship at the Rathje boatbuilding company in Kiel, it was clear that he did not want to become a classic boatbuilder. Instead, he successfully studied shipbuilding and marine engineering in the Schleswig-Holstein state capital and focused on yacht design wherever he could. His diploma thesis dealt with the “Testing of a new speed prediction method for sailing yachts”. In 2004, the superyacht magazine BOOTE EXCLUSIV was looking for an editor with technical and nautical background knowledge, a position that was perfect for Martin Hager. The application was successful and a two-year traineeship was arranged. After twelve years as an editor, the editorial team changed and he took over responsibility for BOOTE EXCLUSIV as editor-in-chief in 2017. After long-time YACHT editor-in-chief Jochen Rieker moved to the role of publisher, Martin Hager also took over the position of editor-in-chief of Europe's largest sailing magazine YACHT, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, at the beginning of 2023. When he's not working on topics for the two water sports titles, Martin Hager likes to go out on the water himself - preferably with kite and wingfoil equipment or on a little after-work trip across the Alster.
