Her big sister, the Pegaz 31, cut a fine figure at the end of last year when we tested her on the Schlei (see also YACHT 2/03). And the smaller 737 is already enjoying great popularity in Eastern Europe. Now the skipper shipyard in Warsaw has closed the gap between the two with the Pegaz 28.
The 8.60 metre long cruiser turns out to be a real space miracle: double berth at the front, aft cabin with very large double berth, separated by a spacious saloon with separate galley and a respectable wet room for this size of boat - combined with a headroom in the saloon of up to 189 centimetres.
We were curious to see how the shipyard managed this balancing act between external dimensions and space utilisation and tested the 2.8 tonne coastal cruiser as a fixed keel version (also available as a centreboard) in Holland on the IJsselmeer.
With wind forces of 5 to 6 Beaufort and the notorious wave chaos of the waters, the ship impressed with surprising sailing characteristics and an astonishing speed potential.
More about this soon in the YACHT test.
