Small yachts of around eight metres seem to be on the rise. A new representative is the Saphire. It combines regatta and cruising boat

In the far corner of Hall A1 is another representative of the eight metre size, which is competing against rivals such as the Archambault A27 or the new Seascape 27 at a truly competitive price. The Saphire 27 is laminated at Delphia-Yachts in Poland, but is marketed by the Swiss Michael Tobler. The former Chief Sales Manager of Mammut in Switzerland has turned his passion into a profession and had a boat built according to his ideas. A yacht that can be used both as a daysailor and for regatta sailing, but is also suitable for trailer holidays or cruising with the family.

The yacht, which is around eight metres long and can still be trailered, comes from a good house. Drawn by Italian designer Claudio Maletto, who has previously designed eleven America's Cup yachts. You can see that. For example, in the T-keel or the really successful and ergonomic cockpit, which offers plenty of space for manoeuvring as well as safety for the young family.

The special thing about the yacht, which is to become a standardised class, is its versatility. More than 200 design combinations are possible, whether in the hull colour or the interior fittings, the wipe-clean upholstery fabric (from the textile industry) or the deck layout. A configurator on the website makes it possible to design your own boat in advance and online. Similar to what we know from the car industry. A successful concept that enables an unrivalled price: 58,310 euros (incl. VAT) including carbon fibre rig. The trick is the direct purchase. The boats are delivered in such a way that they can be assembled easily and without instructions. This keeps the price low.

Inside, the Saphire 27 is spartan but functional. Straightforward, but comfortable thanks to the lighting and thick upholstery.
