X-Yachts: Danes sell majority stake in X-Yachts
Full speed ahead: management stays, new money arrives
Company founders Niels and Lars Jeppesen and Birger Hansen have sold 51 per cent of their shares to the investor Consolidated Holdings

The statement reads like so many when the change from owner management to the investment professional takes place: "The new ownership structure ensures stability and growth for the benefit of employees, customers and suppliers." In the case of X-Yachts, the fact is that the three owners will retain 49 per cent of their shares. Lars and Niels Jeppesen will remain part of the management team. The owner and Chairman of Consolidated Holdings A/S, Ib Kunøe, will become Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

From 1 September, Hans Viggard will take over the role of Managing Director from Lars Jeppesen, who will fulfil other management responsibilities. Viggard was Vice President of Danfoss China and has been a board member at X-Yachts for some time, which should make him well-suited to his new role, as will the fact that he is an enthusiastic sailor, according to the press release. The new ownership group is confident that it will be able to further develop the brand.

X-Yachts was founded in 1979 and the first boat was named after the year it was founded. Turnover most recently totalled 250 million Danish kroner. According to the shipyard, it has built around 5,000 yachts. The company employs 250 people and specialises in well-built performance cruisers. In addition to the sporty series, the Danes have also been producing a cruising line called Xc for some time. With the partial sale of X-Yachts, another internationally active large series shipyard is no longer managed by the founders. The largest company in this structure is currently Delphia Yachts in Poland.
