Beautiful classics in the South of France, a sailing sabbatical on the Baltic Sea, Europe's yachts of the year, a winter escape to the Bahamas and much more! The new issue of YACHT is full of varied topics!

For 21 years now, the European Yacht of the Year Award has been the Oscar of the boatbuilding industry. Under the direction of YACHT, 21 nominated innovations were extensively measured, tested and evaluated in detail at two locations for this edition. In the new issue, you can find out which boats came out on top in the categories of cruising and luxury yachts, special boats and multihulls. In addition, the prestigious European jury of experts awarded a special prize for sustainability, which honours the sailing yacht with the most ecologically convincing approach. We know from our autumn survey that the award is also of great interest to you, dear readers. Anyone looking for a new boat naturally strives for perfection, which is not always easy to find. This is another reason why we test all new products coming onto the market with a thoroughness that is unrivalled in the water sports industry.

Who doesn't dream of leaving the ever faster spinning hamster wheel for a while and sailing away from everyday life on their own keel? YACHT editor Kristina Müller did just that and set course for the end of the Baltic Sea - 1,400 nautical miles, one way. The passionate North Sea sailor reveals what the planning looked like and how the journey went in her report on the trip, which is well worth emulating.

Around three months after the storm surge of the century, we wanted to find out how the extensive damage in the hard-hit harbours will affect the coming season. We went on a tour along the western Baltic coast and took a look at the reconstruction work in the marinas and shipyards. In the process, we stumbled across some marvellous stories.
