The new addition to the small sports boat class with a hull length of around 25 ft is called the Kiss 25, and the Danes at Kiss Yachting have teamed up with the lightweight construction specialists at Neo Yachts in Italy to build this small racer. There, the Kiss 25 is made entirely from carbon fibre - as a sandwich construction using the vacuum infusion process. Neo Yachts is a well-known and successful manufacturer of proven, high-performance carbon fibre sailing yachts with hull lengths ranging from 35 to 60 feet.
The Kiss 25 should be able to hold its own both internationally as a standardised class and as a strong competitor in the ORC and IRC handicap - this is the declared intention of the initiators Thomas Frederiksen and Chris Nørgaard from Copenhagen, who themselves have already gained experience in the established sports boat classes J/70 and Melges 24. They came up with the concept and design of the Kiss 25.
The carbon rig is supplied by the manufacturer Pauger in Hungary. All of the fittings for the deck equipment come from premium manufacturer Harken. The bowsprit for the top gennaker can be pulled out of the cockpit and extends the hull by an impressive 1.80 metres. Despite stringent class regulations, which are still being developed for the construction of a standardised class, the buyer is free to choose the sail manufacturer - as is generally the case with one-design sports boats.
The all-carbon construction should only weigh around 750 kilograms when ready to sail. With a sail area of 35.5 square metres on the wind (mainsail with square top and genoa), the sail load factor (ratio of sail area to total weight) is an extremely high 6.5, which clearly places the boat in the top performance segment. The Kiss 25 is sailed by a crew of three, four or a maximum of five people. There is no upper limit for team weight, even for regattas in the single class.
With a width of 2.50 metres and thanks to its low weight, the Kiss 25 can be easily transported on a trailer on the road. The sporty T-keel is also fully retractable. The deep, slim single rudder, which is set well below the stern, is in a cassette and can also be removed in a few simple steps.
The first Kiss 25 boats are currently under construction at Neo Yachts in Italy and are scheduled for completion and delivery in early 2026. The shipyard has also given an initial price indication:
The boat is expected to cost 142,145 euros gross - ready to sail and equipped for racing in accordance with class regulations. The sails are not included in the basic price. Depending on the manufacturer and quality, at least an additional 12,000 euros must be factored in for a set of high-quality regatta sails.
