The project took a total of 18 months. The shipyard responsible was Yachting Developments in New Zealand. The ship was given a completely new deck and new deck fittings. The substructure of the deck, consisting of steel girders, was adapted to the expected loads and force profiles.
The old rig was replaced by a new carbon rig produced by Southern Spars in Auckland. All generators and the main engine, the hydraulic and electrical systems as well as the electronic systems and air conditioning were replaced or modernised. The English designer Jon Munford has redesigned the interior in the front section of the "Endeavour".
After completion of the test voyages, the ship will go to England in February to take part in a major J-Class event there in summer 2012 on the occasion of the Olympic Games.
