How well do you know the Germans' favourite Mediterranean island? What are the most exciting equipment innovations for 2025? Which sailing books help against the winter blues? How ice-capable is a conventional Luffe? Are microsailing projects daring or just dangerous? How can you take off as a hobby sailor? And what can the new Milan 22 do? All this and much more can be found in the new YACHT.

The history of seafaring has a number of examples in which poor and insufficient food led to revolts. The "Mutiny on the Bounty" in 1789 is one of the most famous cases and has been the subject of many novels and films.

As you know, YACHT deals intensively with all topics relating to on-board practice, which naturally includes everyday aspects such as cooking at sea in addition to sailing techniques, navigation and safety. Meals taste best on board, which is why we are giving this culinary topic more space in our new "Pantry" section.

Why the smutje is traditionally the most important crew member

As most amateur cooks only have around 30 recipes in their repertoire, we provide variety with seaworthy and delicious cooking ideas - and thus possibly prevent a mutiny. There are also tricks and tips for the cook's workplace as well as recommendations for useful and attractive galley utensils.

Single-handed and at speed around the globe - the Vendée Globe is one of the toughest sporting events in the world for a reason. For man and material, mind you. Breakage on board is one of the almost inevitable side effects of the maritime race.

I wish you, dear readers, a happy new year, plenty of time on the water and always a hand's breadth of water under your keel. Enjoy this issue!
