The German importer of Lasers, boatoon.com, is also taking up the idea of the people's boat and is launching a special promotion on 20 October: the first boats sold will cost just 999 euros, including bow wheel and racing sails. After that, the price will gradually increase with the quantity sold up to the manufacturer's recommended retail price of 2,050 euros.
This is still attractive for a robust, versatile boat that is 2.60 metres long and 1.30 metres wide. The boom is adjustable in height so that even adults can tack and jibe without having to contort themselves. With a weight of 50 kg, the whole thing fits perfectly on the roof of a car and can be taken anywhere.
The main target groups are families and sailing schools. The bow can be seen at the Hanseboot.
