The Italian shipyard Zuanelli, located on the southern shore of Lake Garda, is attracting attention with an exciting new build project known as the Z36. The 11-metre performance cruiser is available in various versions. The design plans were drawn up by Umberto Felci’s studio.

The hull and deck are built at Cantiere Zuanelli using a fibreglass sandwich construction with epoxy resin and a foam core, produced using the vacuum infusion process. To this end, extensive carbon fibre reinforcements are fitted at high-stress points in the keel area, around the rudder shafts and at the shrouds. The keel, in a sporty T-shape, is made of stainless steel and is fitted with a lead ballast. The draught is two metres.

What is particularly exciting is the concept’s high degree of versatility. The designers at Felci Yacht Design have designed the standard boat as a typical performance cruiser. This means: sheet winches for the mainsail and genoa on the coaming, halyards and trimmers at the bow on both sides of the companionway. In addition, the boat is fitted with a traveller on the cockpit floor and a simple tiller steering system. This version is available under the model designation Z36 Sport.

Compatible versions

The GT version, with its Mediterranean-inspired design, is aimed more at sporty cruising sailors. To this end, the boat features twin helm stations with wheels and benches, a teak deck and a larger swim platform. Finally, the Z36 Explorer version is designed to meet the needs of blue-water sailors and is equipped with a sturdy transom with traveller track above the cockpit, as well as a flexible hardtop. In addition, the boat is fitted with a cutter stay for longer voyages in windy conditions. However, these three versions are not planned as standalone models or fixed equipment packages. Rather, they represent different interpretations of the same project, which can be freely combined according to the buyer’s preferences.

The interior layout is set to feature a classic design with two double cabins and a large bathroom at the stern. Cantiere Zuanelli plans to begin laying the keel of the first boat in January 2026. The Italian yacht builders have also already announced an initial price estimate: the base price is expected to be €290,000, excluding VAT.
