YACHT has already sailed the crowd-puller of boot Düsseldorf 2025. First impressions of an exceptional boat.

With the XR 41, X-Yachts is returning to its roots in racing. The Danish shipyard presents a versatile racer-cruiser designed for both ambitious racing and very sporty cruising. The boat is intended for ORC World Championship 2025 in Estonia and also on two-handed formats. In addition to a continuing high level of interest at boot, 20 boats have now been ordered, creating optimism in Haderslev.

Sailing characteristics and cockpit layout par excellence

YACHT has already had the opportunity to test the XR 41: First impressions: The boat is extremely stiff, steers easily, directly and controllably on all courses and starts planing early. The deck layout works exceptionally well and already has a few exciting gimmicks: the main and foresail can be fitted with halyard blocks on request, and the luff tension can then be adjusted with tackle or hydraulically via an electric pump at the touch of a button. This is also possible for fine adjustment of the backstays and the foresail hoisting point. The large cockpit is very pleasing, especially when the two forecastle boxes are removed, which extend the dents. Without the two GRP boxes, the foresailor stands directly at his winch and works there in an ideal position. This also applies to the backstay winches, which are positioned diagonally in the direction of pull, the mainsheet directly in front of the wheel and the two halyard winches, on which the gennaker sheets are also travelled.

Flexible concept for different applications

The boat is popular, which is probably also due to the dual concept. The XR 41 is not a pure one-design boat, but offers flexibility for different racing formats. What's more, a large part of the interior consists of modular elements that can be removed for regattas and reinstalled for cruises. This allows a total weight reduction of around 300 kilograms. X-Yachts offers two versions: Race and Sport.

Below deck there are three cabins, a large U-pantry and plenty of storage space. Thanks to the walnut laminate, the interior has a high-quality appearance, but is robust and insensitive to moisture. Cabinets and berths can be removed without tools. The rig is also customisable: in addition to the regatta version with double backstays and squarehead mainsail, there is also a classic version with a central backstay for simplified manoeuvres.

Radical hull design for maximum performance

The hull design of the XR 41 shows X-Yachts' consistent focus on performance. The side-entry underwater hull, the V-shaped stern, the negative deck step and the high chines are striking features.

X-Yachts is sending its own regatta team to develop the full potential of the XR 41. The knowledge gained will be shared with owners. This makes the boat attractive for ambitious regatta sailors. Before boot Düsseldorf 2024, 14 units had already been sold.

The basic version of the XR 41 with carbon fibre mast, but without sails, costs 521,220 euros including VAT. Sails and electronics are not included in the basic price.
