With the new Sun Odyssey 455, the yacht builders at Jeanneau are closing the existing gap between the Sun Odyssey 440 and Sun Odyssey 490 models, although the 440 will in future only be offered as a simply equipped Millennium version and exclusively for charter use. This means that the new Sun Odyssey 455 will also replace the smaller model in the owner's segment.
At the same time, Jeanneau is changing its design partner for the larger boats in the Sun Odyssey range with hull lengths of over 12 metres. For the new 455, the Marc Lombard Yacht Design studio, which has already supplied the designs and construction plans for all the smaller models, has also been commissioned for the first time. The previous Sun Odyssey 440 and 490 models, on the other hand, were still designed by Philippe Briand.
The cockpit design typical of the brand with the walkaround concept is of course also retained in the latest model. The recessed running decks not only provide safe, barrier-free passageways around the helm stations, but also ensure optimum handling during manoeuvres. This concept has proven itself in tests of all current models in the cruising range. Sun Odyssey already proven itself.
Nevertheless, the new model shows a recognisable further development in the cockpit design. The high coamings now completely enclose the seat thwarts - even in the stern area. In addition, the sheet winches are no longer mounted on the side of the coaming, but on platforms directly in front of the helm stations. This allows the helmsman and crew to work even more ergonomically and efficiently on the winches. The halyards and trim lines are led over the cabin roof and operated on two stopper batteries with winches to the side of the companionway. A furling mast or a self-tacking jib are also available as an alternative to the standard rig with a two-sailed aluminium mast, classic mainsail and overlapping genoa.
The shipyard has not yet published any layouts for the interior. As standard, the new Jeanneau is equipped with a spacious owner's cabin forward and two further double cabins aft. The layout is complemented by two spacious heads, each with a separate shower. For charter use, the boat can optionally be configured with up to four double cabins and four heads (without shower).
A base price of 366,520 euros has been announced for the market launch. This price includes 19 per cent VAT and the sails (mainsail and genoa). Following its world premiere at the trade fair in Paris at the end of November, the Sun Odyssey 455 will also be on show at boot Düsseldorf in January 2026.
