A showroom is also to be set up. Hanseyachts has already established permanent exhibitions at the shipyard site in Greifswald and in Bernau am Chiemsee. With the Laboe shipyard create a central point of contact for owners and interested parties on the Baltic Sea. According to the shipyard, customers would benefit from short distances and a comprehensive range of services, from advice and support through to long-term assistance with their Hanse, the shipyard said.

In fact, the Laboe site is not only centrally located on the Baltic Sea, but also close to the Kiel Canal, a waterway on which many Hanseatic yachts are transferred to their new home waters on their own keel. The Laboe shipyard has over 12,000 square metres of shipyard space, a boatbuilding department for all wood, GRP and metal work, engine and shipbuilding facilities and also offers yacht painting. In addition to pleasure craft, naval, government and commercial vessels are repaired and serviced there.

The winter storage facility has 10,000 square metres of open space and 7,500 square metres of indoor storage space, as well as the option of leaving the boat in the water. In addition to the shipyard and winter storage, the shipyard operates the Marina Baltic Bay with 345 berths.

In addition to the Laboe shipyard, there are three other sales partners for Hanseyachts on the Baltic coast in Germany: Flensburger Yacht-Service, Hanse (Deutschland) Vertriebs GmbH in Greifswald and Nordlicht Yachting in Heiligenhafen. The brand is also represented in Hamburg (Yachthandel Hamburg), in Bernau am Chiemsee (Hanse (Deutschland) Vertriebs GmbH and in Düsseldorf (West Yachting).

Fridtjof Gunkel was born on Helgoland in 1962; he started his sailing career there in the Opti and quickly switched to keelboats. North Sea Week, Cowes Week and Kiel Week were early stops, followed by many years in the Admiral's Cup scene on the cuppers “Container” and “Rubin” World Championships and international regattas in the Starboat, with the mini-maxi “SiSiSi” and various tonner yachts as well as participation in the Whitbread Round the World Race were further formative stations, flanked by extensive cruising trips. Fridtjof Gunkel joined YACHT back in 1985 as part of a traineeship, where he later became Head of the Test & Technology department and then Deputy Editor-in-Chief around 25 years ago. He is also responsible for the regatta and sports section. Fridtjof Gunkel privately sails a performance/cruiser moored on the Baltic coast, his favorite areas are the eastern Swedish archipelago and Brittany.
