The Hanse 360 was voted European Yacht of the Year 2025 in the cruising yacht category. A well-deserved award for a well-rounded, harmonious overall package and solid sailing performance. Now the yacht builders in Greifswald have come up with a surprisingly comprehensive tuning package for the versatile newcomer.

With the sporty upgrade, the new Hanse 360 ST (Sport Tourer) variant should be around ten per cent more powerful than the standard boat. This was calculated by the designers in the Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design studio. Even the standard version has YACHT test with their very good sailing characteristics. However, with the new ST version, Hanse wants to further intensify the sailing experience with more power and generally more active sport.

The increase in performance is to be achieved primarily through a significantly higher rig. The mast with Dyform shrouds will be 85 centimetres higher and carry around 10 per cent more sail area compared to the standard boat with an overlapping genoa. The sports package will also have a T-shaped cast iron keel that is ten centimetres deeper and weighs 135 kilograms more, as well as a deeper but slimmer performance rudder. With the performance-orientated hull appendages, the boat will be able to run higher upwind, say the project managers. The reefing point will also be reached later.

More opportunities for sport and performance

Sporty sailors with regatta ambitions will be pleased to have more and more efficient facilities for trimming the sails. These include line-adjustable hoisting points for the overlapping genoa on the side running deck with the sheets guided directly to two large, additional winches in the cockpit. In addition, a traveller is recessed into the cockpit floor and the mainsheet is guided along the main boom to the front and from there laterally to the rear winches using the so-called German Cupper system. The backstay can now be trimmed on both sides using stronger and separate tackles.

But that's not all: with the ST version, the yacht builders at Hanse in Greifswald are also partially changing the construction method. For the sandwich deck built using vacuum infusion, lightweight PET foam panels are inserted into the laminate as the core material for the Sport Tourer. In the standard version, on the other hand, the deck consists of a composite structure with a balsa wood core. In addition, a new, high-performance adhesive (High Density) is used to join the hull and floor assembly, which should ensure stiffer joints and less weight. Unfortunately, the shipyard is not yet able to quantify exactly how much lighter the new boat will ultimately be. The calculations have not yet been finalised.

A little more expensive, but not that much

The upgrade to the ST version also comes with some visual adjustments. For example, the hull windows are covered with a transparent film, which should ensure a sportier and less cruising-orientated silhouette overall. The railing supports and the front and rear pulpits are now anodised black. The interior is also being redesigned to create a more modern, sportier living atmosphere with light-coloured upholstery and black fittings (see view at the top of the gallery).

The new ST version of the Hanse 360 is available for a price of 268,820 euros, including 19% VAT. The equipment package also includes a set of performance laminate sails (main and genoa) from the manufacturer Elvström. For comparison: In the standard version, the boat with sails costs 221,220 euros, gross.
