First test images of the Hanse 590
We took Hanse's new flagship for a test sail on the Greifswalder Bodden. The photos show the almost 60-foot-long yacht under sail for the first time, as well as the new cockpit concept, plenty of living space on and below deck and a high level of comfort.

The most striking detail of the Hanse 590 is the cockpit-spanning hardtop. At the front it rests on a GRP arch, at the rear it is supported by filigree stainless steel supports. From a distance, this gives the impression that it is floating above the cockpit. An impressive 18 square metres are thus covered and protected from excessive sunlight or rain. The textile section can be opened in the centre aft, allowing a good view of the rigging from the helm stations. Under the canopy there is a sofa area around two cockpit tables. A special feature is the additional seating directly in front of the wheels, which gives co-sailors a clear view forwards and still allows good communication with the person at the helm.

Two small steps lead up to the side deck between the seating areas. The walkaround cockpit eliminates the need to step over the cushions and coaming and also offers a very protected working position at the forward winches thanks to the raised railing at this point. Not that this is always necessary. Everything can be hauled tight at the touch of a button from both helm stations. Apart from the gennaker sheet and some outhauls, the sails can be set and trimmed directly from the helm position.

A grill, sink and refrigerator under a cover aft between the wheels turn the cockpit into a luxury terrace with a bathing platform measuring over four square metres. The space below deck is just as generous. The technical installations, which are invisible for the time being, are designed to make your stay on board a pleasant one. The saloon alone is cooled by two air conditioning units, various fridges and freezers provide fresh food and cool drinks and additional fold-out designer chairs ensure a cosy atmosphere.
