In 2009, the Slovenian company Elan Yachts presented the 310 model (test in YACHT 23/2009). The shipyard has now completely reworked Rob Humphreys' design and presents the boat as the Elan 320. The hull remains essentially unchanged, but now also features the trapezoidal hull window, the new trademark of Elan's sporty performance range. The connection between the hull and deck has also been changed. The boat now has a robust and multi-laminated bulwark instead of the single foot railing as on the previous model.
The deck has been modified in parts. The most striking new feature is the two steering wheels in the cockpit. This makes the Elan 320, which is only 9.25 metres long, currently the smallest series-produced boat with a double steering system. Tiller steering, as on the predecessor model 310, is still available as an option. Another new feature is the standard draught of a full 2.15 metres on the T-keel with lead bulb; the previous model had a draught of 1.90 metres. However, the ballast content has now been reduced by around 200 kilograms. And: the traveller is now recessed in the cockpit floor.
The interior design remains largely unchanged, the Elan 320 retains the generously proportioned and clearly structured interior layout of its predecessor model. However, the Slovenians have worked on the look and details. The interior is even more cosy and has a very pleasant ambience.
The new Elan dealers for Germany, Uli and Nils Schürg from Blue Yachting in Bremen, will be showing the Elan 320 at the Hanseboot in Hamburg as a German premiere in the Hall B6, at stand B148. The current price: 92,810 euros including VAT, but without sails.
