Leonardo Yachts from Holland produces exclusive yachts with an excitingly classic design. The new Eagle46 celebrated its world premiere at the Yachting Festival in Cannes and attracted everyone's attention.

The slender and elongated construction was developed together with Hoek Design. Below the waterline, she has a split lateral plan with free-standing appendages. A slim lead ballast bomb hangs from the stainless steel keel and a deep spade rudder ensures responsive steering. Above the waterline, the long overhangs at the bow and stern are particularly striking. With a hull length of 14.26 metres, the waterline measures just 9.36 metres, almost five metres less. Added to this are the low freeboard and a pronounced deck step. Like all Leonardo yachts, the appearance of the new Eagle 46 is reminiscent of the elegant yachts of the large J-Class - only slightly smaller.

The Eagle 46 is available in two versions: The standard model, built from GRP sandwich material using the vacuum infusion process with a foam core and vinyl ester resin. This basic version has an aluminium mast and weighs 7.6 tonnes. Alternatively, the model is available completely made of carbon fibre, including carbon fibre rigging and rod shrouds. This carbon edition saves around 800 kilograms in weight (6.7 tonnes in total), with the ballast proportion in the keel remaining the same. The first model exhibited in Cannes also meets this high standard of equipment.

Easy Sailing at the touch of a button

The design of the Eagle 46 includes a high, sporty sail plan with an overlapping genoa. A self-tacking jib is also available as an option. The deck and cabin superstructure are finished with imitation teak ex works. However, real wood is also available, for example for the edge of the cabin superstructure and the brand-typical all-round coaming. The cockpit is deep and well protected, with a large steering wheel at the rear. The helmsman sits comfortably on a U-shaped sofa and can operate the winches for the genoa from there. On the side, he has a row of buttons to hydraulically trim the backstay and the boom vang. The mainsheet is also adjusted at the touch of a button, for which a captive winch is installed in the aft peak.

The customer can design the interior according to their wishes and freely choose colours, types of wood and materials. However, only a few deviations from the standard layout are possible in the slimline hull. A spacious cabin is planned in the foredeck with a double berth, which is installed far aft and thus also offers enough space for two people in the footwell. A dog bunk aft on the port side and the sofa berths increase comfort below deck and offer sleeping space for up to five people. There is also an L-shaped galley with plenty of work surface and storage space as well as a completely separate toilet room with shower.

The high-quality ship concept, the fine workmanship and the first-class equipment from the shipyard naturally come at a price. According to the standard specification, prices for the impressive Eagle 46 start at around 860,000 euros, including 19% VAT and upwind sails (mainsail and genoa). Those opting for the carbon versions with carbon fibre rigging will have to dig deeper into their pockets. This version costs around 1,127,000 euros. As an alternative to the standard built-in diesel with 50 hp and saildrive, the shipyard also offers an optional electric motor from Oceanvolt with an output of around 10 kW and battery bank. The surcharge for this is 22,800 euros.
