The windows are smaller than the black areas in the fuselage.
The French shipyard Dufour is building another large-volume boat with many variants and a unique appearance

In the monohull segment, the Fountaine Pajot/Dufour shipyard group is launching the Dufour 48 is launching a new flagship this year. The Dufour 54 fits seamlessly into the new look of the fleet, which has unique visual features thanks to a recessed deck, a multi-surface frame shape with an inverted freeboard at the top and large window areas. The black surfaces do not consist entirely of windows, but merely enclose them. In this way, the Dufours take up features of the Fountaine Pajot catamarans. As is customary today, the hull of Umberto Felci's design remains wide right up to the stern, which is closed by a bathing platform, a permanently attached bowsprit covers the anchor bracket and a voluminous forecastle provides the Dufour with more space and stability.

Dufour with plancha grill, targa bar and hardtop

The shipyard attaches particular importance to a spacious cockpit for comfortable cruising and plenty of room in the harbour and at anchor. A washbasin and a plancha grill are installed at the stern. With these measures, Dufour aims to make life outside as comfortable as inside. A targa bracket above the companionway holds the mainsheet; a hardtop can be added. This serves as a fixed bimini and accommodates the optional solar cells. Generous sunbathing cushions with adjustable backrests can be set up in front of the mast.

Up to five chambers and three wet rooms

Below deck, like most other shipyards these days, the French have focussed on plenty of space, light and bright surface design as well as good ventilation. The galley can be installed either lengthways or on the main bulkhead. A special feature can be found in the voluminous foredeck of the Dufour: in the "Master Suite" version, an island bed is positioned diagonally in the room. The bathroom with separate shower is then built into the front of the bow. The alternative in the "Master Cabin" is a conventionally installed bed as well as a shower and toilet in separate rooms. Other variants include two cabins in the foredeck and a centre cabin with a bunk bed, which also covers the needs of the charter market. The Dufour 54 is also available with a hybrid system consisting of an electric motor, large battery bank, generator and alternative power sources such as solar energy and hydroelectric power. The rest of the Dufour programme consists of the types 37, 41, 44 and 48.
