Lighter, faster, more powerful: Germany's largest series manufacturer is presenting a sports version of the Cruiser 41 at the trade fair in Düsseldorf

At the beginning of 2011, Bavaria Yachtbau presented a "tuned" version of the Cruiser 40. Under the name Cruiser 40 S, a substantially slimmed-down, but technically significantly upgraded sports version was launched on the market. The concept was presented in detail as a parallel comparison in YACHT 9/2011 and has sold well since then. Bavaria product manager Daniel Kohl counts around 50 contracts to date.

With the relaunch of the standard boat from the Cruiser 40 to the Cruiser 41 (test in YACHT 19/2013), the Giebelstadt-based company has now also adapted the corresponding sports version to the new basis. Compared to the standard boat, the Cruiser 41 S has a mast that is around 50 centimetres higher and also tapered, a lighter but deeper keel (2.30 instead of 2.05 metres) and a more pre-balanced profile rudder.

While the bathing platform was completely omitted from the predecessor model Cruiser 40 S, the 41 S comes from the shipyard including the folding stern platform. For the regatta, however, this can be removed with comparatively little effort, as can the cockpit table and the saloon table below deck.

The German-Cupper mainsheet system fitted as standard and the long traveller on the cockpit floor ensure sporty workflows with crew and good trimming options. In addition, there are line-adjustable centreboards as well as larger and more winches on deck. As an ORC boat, the Cruiser 41 S will be equipped with a spinnaker and will also be supplied with a carbon fibre spinnaker pole. And: For sheets, halyards and all trim lines, Bavaria uses the higher-quality, low-stretch, but also more expensive range.

The Cruiser 41 S will be presented as a world premiere at the boat show in Düsseldorf (18 to 26 January). The price is quoted at 169,220 euros (without sails), which is around 20,600 euros more than the base price for the standard Cruiser 41 including sails.
