The additional number in the name might suggest a facelift, but it is in fact a completely new design by Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design. The basic concept remains familiar: a comfortable cruising yacht for long voyages that can be operated even with a small crew. Our photos from the launch show what the new boat looks like in detail.
New ranges for a tried-and-tested concept
The silhouette alone makes the generational change evident. The raked stern, the more elongated lines and the slightly wider hull give the Amel 50.2 a fresh look, even from the outside. The evolution is also evident on deck. The central, deeply sheltered cockpit remains one of Amel’s defining features. However, its ergonomics have been redesigned, making movement around the boat easier and controls more intuitive. The supports for the fixed hardtop have been moved further aft, which is intended to improve the view from the cockpit. The fixed cockpit canopy is now fitted with a sliding roof and integrated solar panels.
The sail handling system remains designed for small crews. The mainsail and genoa can be furled electrically, and an electrically operated staysail is available as an option. The engine room, which is accessible from the cockpit, is also part of Amel’s tried-and-tested design.
Brighter and more welcoming inside
Below deck, the shipyard has opted for a lighter, more open-plan interior. Rounded furniture edges, integrated handrails and new materials characterise the saloon. The owner’s cabin aft has been completely redesigned; the bed now faces aft. More worktop space, refrigeration capacity and storage space in the galley are designed to make everyday life easier on long voyages.
Part of Amel’s philosophy is to deliver yachts with an unusually comprehensive range of standard equipment suitable for long-distance cruising. The shipyard has already announced a price for this: the new Amel 50.2 is set to cost 1,150,000 euros net. Including 19 per cent VAT, the gross selling price is 1,368,500 euros.

The Amel 50.2 has been nominated for the 2027 European Yacht of the Year award. The trials will take place in mid-October 2026 in Palma de Mallorca. The comprehensive test report will then be published in YACHT magazine and on the YACHT website.
