Under the motto "Classically beautiful - beautifully classic", around 40 classic yachts will meet on the last weekend in May for the 22nd Max Oertz Regatta in the birthplace of the eponymous designer. Entries can still be submitted until Monday, 19 May 2025.

The event from Friends of Classic Yachts takes place every year in honour of the most famous German yacht designer, who was born in Neustadt/Holstein in 1871 and spent the first years of his life there. As in previous years, participants can expect a colourful and varied programme in the town harbour and on the water from 22 to 25 May. The regatta events on Neustädter Bucht can be followed from on board the shark cutter "Hansine". Tickets and departure times are available directly on board the ship.

Traditionally, there will be two races, an up-and-down race on Friday 23 May and the actual Max Oertz Regatta on Saturday. The 130 or so sailors will be welcomed by Mirko Spieckermann, the mayor of Neustadt in Holstein, after breakfast. Throughout the event, there will be various delicacies and entertainment on the fishermen's netting area for sea and lake lovers - a visit to the harbour is definitely worthwhile.

The arrival of the ships after the races in the historic Neustadt harbour can be observed very well from Unterer Jungfernstieg. After mooring, several of the ships can be viewed at the Open Ship. Among them is a yacht that Max Oertz himself built over 100 years ago and which is still in perfect condition today.
