Some of the registered yachts were unable to take part due to the low water level, and there was no wind on Saturday. But that didn't detract from the good atmosphere: "It was a superbly prepared and organised event," summarises Ewald Weisschedel, Chairman of the International Lake Constance Week Association, praising above all the performance of the more than 300 volunteers.
According to Weisschedel, this year's Lake Constance Week was much more extensive than in the past. There was plenty to see for onlookers in the harbour and on the harbour mile in the summer weather. From historic boats such as the steamship "Hohentwiel" or the stylish art deco motor ship "Österreich" to events such as a water ski show, concerts and an evening rowing regatta.
The International Lake Constance Week was launched in 1909 and brought together sailors and motorboat drivers from all shores of the lake. After a break of 37 years, the event was revived a hundred years after it was founded and has been a kind of family reunion of the Lake Constance sailing scene ever since.
No other regatta on Lake Constance has so many classes in action. This year, there were classification groups for the 30er Schärenkreuzer, the 45er and 75er National Cruisers, classic and modern sixes, eights, dragons and Lacustre. There were also two yardstick groups and three ORC groups.
After the festival is before the festival, as Ewald Weisschedel says, looking optimistically to the future: "We are already looking forward to the next Lake Constance Week." The 61st edition will traditionally take place in the week after Whitsun. From 28 to 31 May 2026, it will once again be "Cast off" in Constance.
