When the German classic scene The annual meeting in August on Kiel's outer fjord, where the renaissance of traditional sports boats once began, is not just about sailing the fastest. There is also something for the eyes of aesthetically discerning enthusiasts.

Whilst some owners are sprucing up their elegant yachts, others are looking back on extensive restoration work. And each year, a jury of high-ranking experts awards the coveted restoration prize to these yachts.

This year, the "Mingary" a large cruiser yacht from Great Britain, where it was built by the renowned designer Alfred Mylne (portrait in YACHT classic 2/2008 ) took shape. Now she has been built at the shipyard on the Schlei elaborately restored.
