As every year, classic yachts met in Überlingen last weekend for the autumn regatta. Some of the sailing boats were over a hundred years old and came from all the countries bordering Lake Constance: nine 45s and nine 75s national cruisers as well as eleven Lacustre.
The rain of the previous days ended just in time for the weekend and the sun was shining, but the wind left a lot to be desired. Nevertheless, race director Hermann Herburger was able to organise two races on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Klaus Diesch and his crew from the Württemberg Yacht Club in Friedrichshafen won the 45cc national cruiser category. The two crews from Bodensee-Yacht-Club Überlingen, led by Julia Kirgis and Pit Burkhardt, finished behind them.
Franz Bachmann's team from the Romanshorn Yacht Club took 1st place in the 75 National Cruiser field, followed by the teams of Karsten Timmerherm (Württemberg Yacht Club) and Martin Rösch (Konstanz Yacht Club). The Überlingen participants led by Klaus Sacher, Alexander Ballweg and Andreas Steidle-Sailer took 5th, 7th and 9th place. Unfortunately, Andreas Steidle-Sailer had to retire in the 2nd race with his 111-year-old boat due to technical problems and was unable to compete in the 3rd race.
The Lacustre saw Günter Reisacher's team from Segler-Verein Staad at the top of the table. Behind them were the boats of Zeno Danner from the Konstanzer Yacht Club and Stephan Frank from the Lindauer Segler-Club. Rainer Bederke's team from the Überlingen Sailing Club took 6th place.
