The Classic Forum will take place for the 22nd time at boot Düsseldorf 2026. Traditional boats and their history will be given a stage here. With presentations, image and video material and the opportunity to get hands-on, visitors will be given direct access to traditional boat building.

boot in Düsseldorf is the world's largest trade fair for water sports. The Classic Forum has been an integral part of the event calendar since 2005. For the 22nd time, a wide variety of boats will be presented here between 17 and 25 January in Hall 14 under the motto "Classic meets modern". In addition to an exclusive insight into the history and development of boatbuilding, the exhibition will also showcase traditional, classic and modern boats.

In the footsteps of the Vikings and Romans

As part of the "Euro-Viking" event, recognised experts will be on hand to answer visitors' questions. Burghard Pieske provides information about his Viking boat. Prof Dr Schäfer's team from the University of Trier report on their Roman ships.

There will also be a varied stage programme, demonstrations of traditional crafts and numerous experts who will be on hand to answer visitors' questions with advice and knowledge.

Classics at boot Düsseldorf

A special highlight of this year's programme at boot will be the 13th "Private Maritime Auction" on 24 January 2026, which will take place at the Classic Forum from 11 am. Everything from original maritime items to eight boats will go under the hammer here. In addition, numerous boats from different eras will be presented this year and the development of boatbuilding over the course of time will be illustrated.

A colourful programme

The Classic Forum at boot once again offers a varied programme of exciting lectures, films and panel discussions. There will be a "children's shipyard" for the youngest visitors, where children will have the opportunity to build their first sailing boat.

The lectures on historical, traditional or classical topics are prepared and presented by experts and academics. The daily programme also includes film and image contributions, as well as panel discussions between experts on frequently discussed topics, in which the audience also has the opportunity to contribute to the discourse.
