April is the month in which the sailing world pays particular attention to Antigua. Three top events cast a spell over the regatta and classics scene. After the newly launched Antigua Racing Cup and the Antigua Sailing Week the impressive classic yachts were now also used in the Caribbean setting.
This combination is a pleasure in itself - and becomes even more impressive when the moments are captured as atmospherically as by YACHT photographer Tobias Stoerkle. You can get a flavour of this in the following picture gallery:
Over the past three decades, the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta has established itself as a firm highlight in the Caribbean regatta calendar. The event was launched in 1988 and took place for the 37th time this year. Year after year, numerous classic yacht enthusiasts travel to Antigua with their boats - from slips, ketch and yawls to classic schooner yachts.
According to the organisers, there were more participants this year than there have been for a long time. The host harbour, which provides the perfect setting for the event, has remained the same: the historic Nelson's Dockyard in English Harbour.
