What a wonderful feeling when the anchor drops in a quiet bay for the first time on a long-planned charter trip! However, there are a few things to consider before that happens. For this reason, I really don't know any charter skipper who isn't nervous on the first day of the trip - even our experienced in-house travel professionals usually cast off with a certain amount of tension.
No wonder, the ship is unfamiliar, the crew is not yet well-rehearsed, the deposit is high and the area is often new to the skipper. Many factors set the pulse racing and keep us alert.
But when you finally reach the anchorage and the afternoon sun glistens on the sea, the iron falls - and holds - it's time to switch on relaxation mode! In the fourth part of our series for beginners, we provide 20 valuable tips for your first charter to help you avoid typical beginner mistakes.
Something special happened for YACHT last week: the subscriber count on our YouTube channel jumped to 100,000 - a milestone! And a tribute to the commitment of our producers both behind the camera (thank you, Nils Günter!) and in front of it. After all, many editors have long since become entertainers, if not TV stars.
Colleagues are always being approached in harbours like this: "Hey, tell me, aren't you ...?" The 1,000th video was uploaded to our channel back in January, an amazing achievement! Which of these are the most viewed, find out here.
Albert Einstein loved taking to the wind in his dinghy cruiser. In a portrait worth reading, we have summarised how the Nobel Prize winner came to sail and how much of his theory of relativity was developed on board.
Liquid gas is used on many ships. It flows into the heating system, grill, oven or cooker. If maintained correctly and regularly, the systems are safe. We show you how to do this. Enjoy this issue!
