The Danish shipyard Quorning Boats has added a 35-foot tri-hull to its range. The ship can redefine the term performance cruiser.
As the test showed, the boat not only sails as fast as expected, but also as high upwind as a monohull when required. At the same time, it can be steered very sensitively. Around ten knots of true wind is enough for the boat to reach speeds of up to 8.5 knots at the cross. Turning angles of 90 degrees and below are no problem.
The Tri derives its high stability from the large distance between the outer floats and the centre hull; the ship is 8.20 metres wide overall in sailing mode. That's a bit tight with the typical box. For this reason, the floats can be folded to the side using a sophisticated mechanism.
Below deck, the latest Dragonfly is bright and contemporary. Due to its type, space is more limited than on a mono of the same length. Nevertheless, the aft cabin, saloon, navigation, galley, shower room and forward cabin are all available and offer comfortable dimensions.
The Dragonfly 35 is already extremely successful - almost 20 orders have already been received.
