A strong showing for the catamaran builders in the south of France for the future - and at the same time an equally strong commitment to development work. After all, the new models are two large and exclusive catamarans with hull lengths of over 17 and 20 metres respectively. Both new models were developed in collaboration with the designers at VPLP. Patrick Le Quément (exterior) and Darnet Design (interior) are responsible for the design.
The Outremer 57 is a consistent further development of the successful Outremer 55 and is based on the experience gained from several thousand nautical miles in practical offshore use. The aim of the project is to retain the performance DNA of its predecessor while further improving safety, usability and long-distance cruising capability. To achieve this, the hull geometry, design and efficient sail plan were largely adopted from the previous model and additionally optimised.
The high and powerful aluminium rig with a low boom makes it easier to operate the sails. On request, the shipyard can also equip the boat with a rotating carbon fibre profile wing mast. A new feature is the double wheel steering with helm stations on both sides. These are now installed as standard and - as with the Outremer 55 and 52 models - can also be folded inwards into the cockpit. This allows the helmsman to steer from the sheltered cockpit in rough conditions and bad weather while still maintaining a good view forwards through the large windows in the cabin superstructure.
FThere are variants with three or four cabins for the extension below deck. The forward port cabin can be flexibly configured as a single, double or triple cabin as well as an office, workshop or children's room. The shipyard is very flexible and can also realise special requests. Large windows in the saloon and cockpit offer an almost unrestricted all-round view. A spacious navigation corner facing forwards in the direction of travel makes it easy to work with the nautical charts and can also be used as an inside steering position with the autopilot remote control.
Outremer is positioning a new top-of-the-range model above the 57: the Outremer 64. The 20.50 metre long catamaran is based on a completely newly developed hull and structural concept. The aim is to maximise rigidity while minimising weight.
The cockpit is spacious, open and directly connected to the saloon. The 64 is also equipped with two helm stations, which - like the Outremer 57 - are foldable. In the new flagship, the double-guided line guides also enable easy handling, even with a small crew or single-handed. The Outremer 64 is equipped with a carbon fibre mast as standard.
The Outremer 64 is the brand's first model designed to accommodate a professional crew without compromising the owner's privacy. For this purpose, a separate skipper's cabin with its own wet room is provided aft, which is directly accessible from the cockpit. The new flagship will also be available with three or four spacious double cabins, each with its own bathroom. The shipyard is also extremely open to individual wishes and requirements when it comes to the interior design.
