From the smaller trimaran to the futuristic 60-foot project - we provide an overview of the innovations in the multihull segment.
The industry leader from Bordeaux is launching a new volume model for owners and yacht charters. The design from VPLP is particularly striking with its unusually full hulls, especially in the foredeck area. The boat can be fitted with up to four double cabins, which are almost identical in size. The helm position is integrated in a raised position. From there, another staircase leads up to the flybridge with sun lounge.
Cervetti Catamarans in Italy emerged from the former French brand Dufour Catamarans. The new Cervetti 44 project is now being added to the young shipyard's programme as a smaller version of the Dufour 48. The design with a steering position on the flybridge comes from the Skyron Design studio. Three or four cabins, each with its own bathroom, are planned for the interior. Prices have not yet been communicated.
The catamaran manufacturer Mavea Yachts, based in Eschborn, Germany, is withdrawing its production in China and is now having the sporty catamarans of the Slyder Catamarans brand built in Tunisia, using aluminium instead of GRP as before. The cabin superstructure with the bimini, on the other hand, is made entirely of carbon fibre. Customers can also request a flybridge lounge as an option. The Slyder 55 is already being finalised, according to the shipyard.
Luxurious living on the high seas and speedy travelling at the same time. This is what the Xquisite Yachts shipyard in South Africa is offering with its new 60 Solar Sail project. The futuristic-looking construction comes from Bill Dixon Yacht Design. The massive equipment carrier at the stern for the many solar panels, which ensure largely self-sufficient energy management, is visually striking.
The trimaran experts at Astus Boats in Brittany have a new flagship in the works, the Astus 26.5. As is typical of the brand, the floats can be pulled up close to the hull for harbour days and for transport on the trailer. The boat is available in three different versions.
Quorning Boats in Denmark introduces a new variant for the Dragonfly 40 (Test YACHT 14/2020). In the 40C Performance version, the side hulls, the beams and the load-bearing bulkheads are made entirely of carbon fibre. This makes the trimaran not only stiffer, but also around one tonne lighter.
The Bali Catamarans brand in France is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a new flagship model. The amount of space is remarkable. A total area of around 140 square metres is available on and below deck. Up to six double cabins with en-suite bathrooms are possible.
