The French shipyard, to which Dufour also belongs, surprises with a total of five new developments. Next up is a 48-foot catamaran.

In many places, the shipyard scene is currently at a standstill or merely managing existing models. But in France, things are really picking up at the moment. The Beneteau Group is churning out new products in all sectors. And the second largest group in the industry, Fountaine Pajot, is also surprising with various premieres from both product lines. The team from La Rochelle has already launched the FP 41 and FP 44 this year and has now announced new ride skates in sizes 48, 51 and 70. All in all, this is a huge investment in development and mould making.

Five sofas and armchairs in the rear cockpit

The 48 will be released in spring, the design by Berret-Racopeau (which characterises all Fountaine Pajot boats). It is a flybridge boat with a half-height helm station where all the controls converge. On the main level there is an electric bathing platform, which also serves as a dinghy dock, the fully covered cockpit, a deckhouse with saloon and galley attached to it and a front cockpit in front of it.

The saloon and cockpit merge into one another on one level.

This means that there are three outdoor areas including the flybridge, with five different sofas and armchairs available in the aft cockpit.

Five cabins and six toilets

Below deck, the new Fountaine Pajot 48 is just as blatant: up to five cabins are possible, one of which has bunk beds in the centre of the port hull. The berths are generally positioned transversely, which improves the space available and makes them easier to use. There are up to four bathrooms on board. The forward cabins can be converted into crew cabins and are then also both equipped with toilets in the five-cabin version. That brings us to one bowl per eight feet. The space is there.

Also for generous cupboard space, equipment and gensets. Or the separate entrance to the aft cabin on the port side, which is separated from the rest of the interior. A solution that can be used as a skipper's cabin. Owners will choose a different variant. In the so-called Full Maestro version, the entire port hull is reserved for them: The large aft cabin, again with its own entrance in the stern area and a staircase from the saloon, with cupboards and an office in front, followed by the large bathroom with a completely separate shower and separate toilet room.

Sitting, lying, lounging: All dark brown surfaces mark armchairs, sofas and loungers.

According to the shipyard, the boat is aimed at "discerning owners with blue water ambitions." The Fountaine Pajot 48 is the ideal catamaran for long-distance cruising and is easy to handle by a small crew.

Fountaine Pajot with two motor solutions

The cat is powered by two 45 hp diesels as standard, which are completely isolated from the interior and therefore well insulated from the interior in the rear. A hybrid-electric drive is available as an option, which works with electric motors, a generator, solar energy and recuperation.

The cheapest version with three cabins and three bathrooms costs 790,160 euros including VAT. The hybrid drive ODSea+ means a surcharge of 195237 euros.
