From Vietnam: The Corsair 760 with a completely different hull design. The proven concept with the flip-up side floats remains the same

The trimaran experts at Corsair Marine in Vietnam believe that more than 700 units sold are enough. They are therefore replacing their best-selling Corsair 750 (test in YACHT 1/2011) with the new Corsair 760 model. The designers at Perus Yacht Design in France have once again thoroughly revised the tried-and-tested trimaran concept for the shipyard. François Perus recently developed the successful Puls 600 for Corsair Marine (test in YACHT 1/2016), a fun racing machine with high performance potential.

For the new Corsair, Perus has completely modified the shape of the hulls in particular. The side hulls now come with a wave piecer bow and a maximally low centre of buoyancy. The designers expect this to increase the righting moment by around 15 per cent while at the same time greatly reducing drag. The new design of the hulls should also show significantly better characteristics when sailing in the waves.

The centre fuselage has also been redesigned. However, the rear-mounted rudder blade and the retractable centreboard remain. As with the previous model, a total of four people can spend the night below deck, in the foredeck and on the sofa berths in the saloon. An extendable pantry block will also be available as an option. And, of course, a portable toilet can also be installed for touring sailors.

As is usual with Corsair trimarans, the side floats can be folded up. This reduces the width from 5.46 metres in sail mode to just 2.5 metres - good for mooring in the harbour and, of course, for easy transport on the road. With a weight of just under 900 kilograms, the Coirsair 760 can also be easily launched and retrieved from the slipway.

The Corsair 760 has a very modern sail plan with a powerful, fully battened squarehead mainsail and an overlapping genoa. A reacher or gennaker can also be attached to a fixed bowsprit. If this is still too unsportsmanlike for you, a sensibly put together sports package is also available. This includes the rig (mast, main boom) and the bowsprit made of carbon fibre as well as a set of high-quality laminate sails with gennaker.

The first Corsair 760 is due to be launched this autumn. The basic version will be available for a price of 78,970 euros (ready to sail, incl. VAT), while the sports version will cost 101,100 euros.
