Bali Catamarans in France is celebrating its tenth anniversary and is giving itself a new flagship to mark the occasion. The amount of space on and below deck is remarkable. A total usable area of around 140 square metres is available, including flybridge and front cockpit with sunbathing area. There is no trampoline. A large number of layout options offer a choice of three to six double cabins with en-suite bathrooms. The two aft cabins can also be accessed directly from the cockpit via separate entrances. The basic price is 1.73 million euros.
The trimaran experts at Astus Boats in Brittany have presented initial plans for a new flagship. Construction number one of the Astus 26.5 type is now in production and should be ready this summer. As is typical of the brand, the side hulls can be pulled up close to the hull. This means that the width can be easily reduced for harbour berths and for transport on a trailer. The folding centreboard in the central hull can also be raised. The Astus 26.5 is available in three equipment variants (Leisure, Cruising, Sport). Prices start at around 90,000 euros.
For markets outside France and Italy, the Dufour Catamarans brand is now to be recognised and grow under the name Cervetti Catamarans. The new Cervetti 44 project will now follow the Cervetti 48 (also known as the Dufour Cat 48) as a slightly smaller version. Layout variants with three or four double cabins, each with its own wet room, are planned for the extension.
The carbon fibre specialists from Neo Yachts also want to participate in the growing market for sporty and high-performance multihulls. In addition to the launch model Neo 410 Cat, the Italians are now also announcing a larger Neo 560 Cat. Built entirely from carbon fibre, the twin-hull projectile will be equipped with a rotating wing mast and centreboards in the hulls from the shipyard.
The catamaran manufacturer Mavea Yachts, based in Eschborn, Germany, is withdrawing its production in China and is now having the Slyder Catamarans brand catamarans built in Tunisia, using aluminium instead of GRP as before. The hull of the new Slyder 55 is already being finalised. The cabin superstructure with the bimini, however, is made entirely of carbon fibre. As an option, customers can also request a flybridge lounge (photo above left). There are also plans for versions with three or four double cabins, each with its own bathroom. The manufacturer has also already announced prices: The Slyder 55 will cost a good 2.1 million euros.
Long, slender hulls in wave piercer style with centreboards, plus an all-round glazed cabin superstructure with a negative window front for maximum sun protection. These are the external features of the new SC 55 from the Swiss Cat Yachts brand based in Geneva. The SC 55 is built in Italy as a GRP construction with a high proportion of carbon fibre reinforcements. The rig is also made of carbon fibre, with textile shrouds. A striking feature is the long and very massive bowsprit, on which three headsails (self-tacking jib, genoa, code zero) are set in a row and remain furled. The design comes from the Yacht Design Collective office of François Pérus and Romain Scolari. The shipyard can respond to the customer's individual wishes for the interior fittings. Not only is the project exclusive, but also the price: around 2.5 million euros.
Windpearl Yachts in La Rochelle is enriching the exciting market segment of weekender catamarans with a new boat. On the Ventio, the beams are attached to the hull with bolts. This allows the boat to be dismantled and transported on a lorry or in a container. The platform between the hulls remains open, but can optionally be covered and fitted with an additional galley. There is also a sports version with a rotating profile wing mast made of carbon fibre. Both hulls are also habitable and each offer a double and a single berth as well as a separate toilet in the stern. Prices start at around 190,000 euros.
The Windelo Catamarans brand in France is committed to sustainability. The environmentally friendly concept was implemented for the first time with the Windelo 50.
This means all-electric drives or hybrid solutions, plus a laminate structure for the hull and deck with natural basalt fibres, bio-based resin and a sandwich foam core made from recycled plastic bottles. The deck and superstructure are largely fitted with solar panels, and the travelling props generate electricity under sail. Special feature: the steering cockpit is completely sealed off from the actual saloon. The price: 1.64 million euros.
Since 2010, the multihull scene has had its own in-water exhibition. And the International Multihull Boatshow in La Grande-Motte has long since become the undisputed leading trade fair for catamarans and trimarans. With over 70 boats expected this year, the organisers can already announce a new record number of exhibitors. In addition to the many manufacturers of multihulls, numerous outfitters and service providers will also be offering their products.
