Following the takeover by Groupe Experton-Revollier in January 2011, the French manufacturer Wauquiez now wants to take off with a dedicated programme update. Surprisingly, the shipyard is now also taking up the once discontinued Centurion programme again and is now presenting a complete overhaul of the Centurion 40s. Types around 45 and 50 feet in length are to follow.
The new boat now has an open cockpit with a removable stern bench and double steering wheels. The coaming has also been redesigned and the winches repositioned. The mainsheet can now also be operated by helmsmen using the German Cupper System.
The large genoa from the previous model has given way to a headsail with a short overlap. This means that the sheets are shorter and handling is much easier. On the other hand, the mast on the new boat is higher.
A lot of work has also been done inside. The interior has become more airy and significantly more modern. The general layout as an owner's version with two cabins remains unchanged compared to the predecessor model, but there are now alternative layouts with a second bathroom.
The Centurion 40s is built as a GRP sandwich construction with a balsa wood core. Osmosis-resistant vinyl ester resin is applied for the outer layers, while the hull and deck are cured using the infusion process. Dealer Pines Pontoppidan from Diamond Yachts in Laboe puts the price at 296,310 euros.
