FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

Purchased as a very lightly-used and ‘as new’ example by her current owners from Nauticat’s Sweden in 2004, KARELIA has benefitted from light use in Scandinavian and Northern European waters throughout her life. As one of Nauticat’s ‘sailing’ range of pilothouse cruising yachts, KARELIA combines the practicality of their traditional motorsailers with the sailing performance and capabilities of regular bluewater cruising yachts, making her an ideal option for anyone seeking a spacious, bluewater capable cruising yacht with the added practicality of a raised pilothouse and internal helm position. Her specification highlights include:-
Three-cabin, two heads interior layout with up to 7-berths including occasional saloon settee berth
Navy blue painted topsides
Teak laid side decks
Recently epoxy-treated underwater hull sections
1.95m draft lead ballast fin keel with skeg-supported rudder
Powerful Yanmar 110hp diesel engine with shaft drive and 3-bladed MaxProp feathering propeller
Vetus bowthruster
Upper and lower helm stations with steering and engine controls
Recently replaced Mastervolt AGM batteries with TBS 60amp battery charger
Approx 700 litres fuel and water capacity
Blackwater holding tank
Raymarine-based navigation instrument package with many recent updates including i70s multi-repeater, Vesper Marine WatchMate XB-8000 Class B AIS transceiver, Apple tablet chart software, radar and autopilot
Twin fridges in galley
LCD TV in saloon
Recently replaced standing and running rigging
Selden in-mast furling system
Furling genoa
Lewmar winch package

OWNER’S COMMENTS:

Having sailed a Nauticat 33 from 1974 to 2000 in the Mediterranean, we were looking to buy a new, quality Scandinavian boat, preferably with deck saloon. The Nauticat 42 was the obvious choice and in May 2004 we bought NC42 KARELIA from Nauticat Sweden. KARELIA was almost new, lightly used and stored inside at the Nauticat Yard in Finland.

Our Nauticat 42 stayed at the Swinninge marina in the archipelago of Stockholm until summer 2005. Then we sailed her down to Oostende in Belgium. In 2006, after racing the "Round the Island" race in Cowes we sailed her to St Peter Port in Guernsey and back to Belgium where she was kept dry in a shed during winter.

In 2007, on our way to Palma de Majorca we stopped in the Minimes Marina in La Rochelle and we fell in love with the French Atlantic island of Ré next to La Rochelle. KARELIA stopped there and never went further to the Med! Since 2008 Karelia is moored in Saint Martin de Ré in summer and sheltered on the Sèvre river marina in Marans in winter.

Unfortunately we hardly ever sail her since we bought a large family house in St Martin de Ré ten years ago.
On average two to three weeks a year mainly north to ile d'Yeu and Belle île or south to San Sebastian. Despite this, we decided to keep KARELIA as we love her. Furthermore, being so well-built, KARELIA is relatively light to maintain. However, we now feel that he time has now come to offer her a new and more exiting life with a new loving family...
