Happy about what has been achieved so far: skipper Jonna-Kilian Vostell at the anchorage off Gran Canaria
One woman, one boat, one goal: despite various setbacks, a young German woman refuses to be dissuaded from her dream - a blue water cruise with an open end

Jonna Kilian-Vostell has a vision and is prepared to give a lot for it: The 29-year-old has been dreaming of sailing back to the Palm Islands in the San Blas archipelago on her own keel and living on a ship ever since a hand-to-koe trip. For years, the globetrotter has been working towards this and planning meticulously - but when it is finally time to set off, her exit suddenly threatens to fail.

Nevertheless, the young woman from Berlin is not deterred, buys a boat and sails - sometimes alone, sometimes with a crew - from Croatia through the Mediterranean to the Canary Islands. From there, she plans to continue across the Atlantic and then - with a bit of luck - around the world.

You can read a portrait of the sailor, the refit of her aged Sun Odyssey "Tangaroa" and her plans for financing the journey from the road in the new YACHT 2/2019, which is available in stores from today, can be ordered online and is available digitally.
