They are likely to lower the average age of blue water sailors - and of those who only dream of it - enormously: Tim Hund, Tom Schwarz, Michael Bischof and Vincent Goymann from the Bad Tölz area are 19 years old on average - and have already sailed around the world.
In September 2018, they set off from Fehmarn on their 14-metre steel yacht "Eira" to sail around the world in three years. The last day of school and the four friends' graduation ceremony were only a few months ago - they want to use their newfound freedom for a big adventure together before they possibly go their separate ways in the future.
The first major stages lie in the wake: sailing along the Dutch coast
The camera has been on board since the start of the trip. They have already filmed their previous adventures during their holidays - cycling, kayaking and mountain tours - and put them online as films. Now they are also filming their planned circumnavigation of the globe, which numerous fans are already following on the YouTube channel "Segeljungs".
The engine of the "Eira" keeps causing problems. Will the four of them manage to repair it or will they need a new engine?
And so the viewer is there when the crew sets sail for the first time, when the engine goes on strike for the first time, when seasickness makes their faces pale for the first time. They can't and won't hide the fact that the boys have hardly any idea about many things at first - only skipper Tim Hund had previous sailing experience.
A look into the on-board cash box: the crew talk about how the trip was financed
The four of them have now crossed the Atlantic and arrived in the Caribbean. "And in the sailing world," says Tim Hund in an interview with YACHT. "We now see ourselves as sailors, even if we perhaps do things a little differently."
