Webinar content

In this webinar, participants will learn how a mast works and how the correct tension in the shrouds and stays affects the trim of the sails. YACHT editor Michael Good takes participants step by step from the basics through to the finer points of rig trim.

  • Different types of rigging: what are the differences?
  • The basis for correct trim: Is the mast really straight?
  • Better to measure than to guess: the correct rig tension is crucial.
  • Is the mast deflection correct? Checking whilst under sail will confirm this.
  • A question of pressure distribution: adjusting the mast angle correctly.

YACHT test editor Michael Good (61) has been an active regatta sailor in various boat classes since childhood. In his webinar, he shares practical tips and clear explanations that enable participants to apply what they have learnt directly on their own boat. The webinar is aimed at sailors who want to get more out of their boat and optimally tune their rig to suit their boat and sails.
