When Boris Herrmann becomes the first German to take part in the single-handed race on Sunday, fans can follow the action live on web TV

The race starts onSunday at 13.02 German time, but as befits true French fans, the live broadcast will start via the Vendée Globe Youtube channel and Dailymotion The race starts with the departure of the 33 participants from the Les Sables d'Olonne canal at 09:00. It runs until around 13:45, when the helicopters and support boats start to turn round. As last year, the images will be commentated by either a French or an English speaker duo.

Who theVendée-Globe App of the organiser (iOS and Android) can also follow the start. The Vendée Globe Facebook page will also offer a stream of the start.

During the race there will be daily12.30 p.m. a 45-minute transmission with a summary and live pictures from on board as well as interviews with skippers.

Weather-wise, spectators seem to be in luck, it looks like only light cloud cover with sunny spells around midday, the wind is coming from the south-east at ten to twelve knots, with gusts of around 20 knots - ideal conditions for the foilers. Beautiful start pictures are therefore very likely.

Who wants aList of all TV channels who are broadcasting the start - but unfortunately not on German television - will find a list on the Website of the Vendée.
