The entire Polish Baltic coast is not easy to sail. This is due to the fact that there are no islands or bays between Gdansk Bay and Swinemüde that offer shelter in bad weather. The coast is therefore a leeward coast when the wind blows from the north, as it often does. And entering the few harbours or estuaries in stronger breezes is always accompanied by the risk of ground swells. For this reason, the supply of charter yachts there is not particularly plentiful.
Gdansk is an exception. The offshore bay and the Hel peninsula are great sailing areas: varied, rich in tradition, sheltered, sometimes sophisticated, sometimes natural. We sailed from there around the Hel to Leba, our destination was the huge dune landscape there, the biggest natural attraction in the area.
It's not a big trip, but it has its own special features, which doesn't make it easy. You can read about what you can experience on this trip, what you need to bear in mind and why you always need a plan B in YACHT 3/2017, on newsstands now, in the DK-Shop or directly order digitally here !
