The camera shows the two chambers, the new and the old, where people are now busily queuing. "People stay on the site for an average of seven minutes," says Peter Austin, owner of Webcam Nederland. "That's a very long time!" Whether it's to see what's going on in the area or in the hope of spectacular lock cinema.
The camera was originally financed by construction company Ballast Nedam as part of the project marketing. However, the project has now been completed and Ballast Nedam wants to dismantle the camera.
"We received so many concerned emails and calls, especially from Germany, that I just wanted to see if it could be financed through crowdfunding. Sponsorship would also be possible. We need just under 3700 euros, then Ballast Nedam will get a new camera and the old one will stay where it is," continues Austin. Something has to be done in the next few weeks, otherwise it's over. If not enough contributions are collected, the money will of course be refunded.
Anyone who would like to help out or even act as a sponsor can do so at here do.
