Travelling through Sweden. There's no better way to get to know a country
The operators of the Göta and Trollhätte Canal have published the new passage prices and opening hours of bridges and locks

The much-praised "Blue Riband of Sweden" is still one of the most popular destinations for German leisure skippers. And rightly so - travelling across Sweden on your own keel is a truly fascinating experience. For our northern neighbours, however, the two canals connecting the two largest cities and the two largest in the country are also a considerable source of income.

It is therefore not surprising that plans have been in place for some time to subject the waterway to an extensive renovation. The "Göta Canal 2.0" project is set to be the most extensive renovation since the artificial waterway was commissioned in 1832. The government has earmarked around 100 million Swedish crowns for the project. The initial work has already begun.
