The "Boundless Bottenvik" project is being jointly implemented by Sweden and Finland and aims to strengthen water sports in the region. An important part of this is the website Visitbothnianbay. It summarises information from the municipalities and tourism associations. An associated blog presents interesting excursion destinations and special natural and cultural features along the Swedish and Finnish coast.
A harbour guide was also developed as part of the project PDF document developed. Over 100 harbours and anchorages in the Bothnian Bay are described there. Even if the information is not always complete - measured against the nautical literature available to date - the brochure is a clear gain.
Until now, anyone travelling to the far north of the Baltic Sea had to rely on the Manual of the Swedish cruiser division instructed. For the southern part of the Gulf of Bothnia between Öregrund and Höga Kusten, a similar programme has been in place for years. PDF publication in Swedish.
For the Åland Islands there is also a PDF harbour guide of the local tourism association.
