News: Optimum cruise preparation
Checklist for crewing instructions and co-sailing agreement now available to download free of charge on the web

Holiday at last! The tedious journey to the yacht is over, the time-consuming handover from the charter company has been patiently endured. Now let's get going! But wait, the skipper puts the brakes on his crew's enthusiasm. First he wants to talk about life-saving appliances and explain how the toilet works. Isn't there time for that?

In practice, the safety briefing of the crew often stands or falls with the assertiveness of the skipper. Because this is the case, many charter companies endeavour to at least make the handover procedure easier for their customers by sending out appropriate checklists in advance or handing them out on arrival on site.

These can then be ticked off point by point. A charter base employee is then only needed to clarify any unanswered questions.

Another checklist also helps with the skipper's briefing of the crew. However, only a few companies include corresponding tips in their documentation.

The YACHT has therefore new list developed. Best to download now (This service is free of charge). The list is intended as a guide covering all relevant topics - from emergencies at sea and the most important manoeuvring procedures to mutual consideration and general behaviour on board.

Much more information on this topic can be found in YACHT 15/08 in the article "Valuable knowledge". Did you miss the magazine? Then simply reorder it by calling 0521/55 99 11.
