Especially in the summer months, it is not easy for sailors on Lake Constance to find a berth for an overnight stay in a foreign harbour straight away. They can now get help from a new internet booking platform. You can reserve a guest berth for the right size of boat while on the move using your PC, tablet or smartphone. A corresponding app provides an overview of available berths at any time.
The system works like this: The harbour master or mooring provider must register on the internet portal www.bodensee-liegeplatz.com register. He can then enter all the berths that are to be bookable via the site. The advantage for the harbour master: he has a complete overview of the harbour occupancy on his PC, no longer has to check the release signs and can even allocate the berths from home.
But berth holders can also use the booking portal to release their own berth at any time and from anywhere. To do this, however, the board on the jetty must always be set to "occupied". A corresponding "Book online" sticker shows other skippers that they can book this berth immediately via the online portal.
A one-off set-up fee of 99 euros is charged for adding a new guest mooring provider to the booking system. Users pay an annual fee of 258 euros. The introductory price for the 2014 season is 198 euros.
The online booking portal www.bodensee-liegeplatz.com has been developed by the company Creative Software GmbH in Weilheim an der Teck and is now available on the Internet.
