Sailors whose course passes through the "Baltic I" motorbikes off the coast of the Darß will have fewer bans to observe in future

On 5 May 2014, the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration issued a general ruling allowing vessels shorter than 24 metres to navigate the Baltic I offshore wind farm in the dark. This is the most significant of a total of three changes that should be of interest to sailors.

In addition, this is already permitted from a visibility of 500 metres and not, as previously, from 1000 metres visibility. Wind conditions will also no longer be an obstacle to crossing the wind farm in future. Up to 8 Beaufort - instead of the previous limit of 6 - it is legal to sail between the windmills.
